REGIONAL MANAGER – REGION OF PEEL
PLASP Child Care Services is a charitable organization operating on a not-for-profit basis, providing high quality early learning and child care, for children up to 12 years of age. PLASP operates programs in more than 240 schools providing before and after school care. PLASP also operates 36 full-day early learning and child care centres and 6 EarlyON locations for children from 0 – 6 years.

Reporting to the Vice President of Operations, the Regional Manager will provide strategic leadership, direction and supervision to Area Managers for the Peel Region to ensure appropriate staffing and successful delivery and implementation of PLASP’s policies and procedures within the programs. The Regional Manager will work collaboratively with other Regional Managers, Manager of Program Services and Manager of Program Administration to support the day to day functionalities of the Operations Department and to ensure the implementation of PLASP’s strategic plan.
THE POSITION INVOLVES…
The successful candidate will provide a full range of duties, including:
- Provide strategic leadership, direction and supervision to the Area Managers in Peel region
- Work collaboratively with Regional and Area Managers to ensure implementation of high-quality inclusive programming
- Supports the day to day operations within the Operations Department
- Manages Early Learning and Child Care Centres, before school & after school Kindergarten and School Age Programs
- Oversees the opening of new centres and programs within the organization
- Ensure ongoing evaluations of program content takes place in the School Age, Early Learning and Child Care Centre programs and EarlyON using the appropriate tools such as AQI, PQA, CQI, etc.
- Ensure programs obtain and maintain a clear license in accordance with the CCEYA, PLASP and Ministry of Education protocols
- Ensure that related PLASP policies and processes are updated and current to meet the needs of the organization and municipal service providers
- Monitors budgeted allocations and program enrolments for Peel region and as requested by the Vice President, Operations
- Optimize staffing resource utilization within the organization and ensures programs are staffed accordingly
- Oversees the management of program staff, including hiring, implementing hiring strategies and mentorship of staff
- Works collaboratively with community partners (Service System Managers, School Boards and School Administration) to ensure the delivery or high quality licensed childcare
- Oversees Operational projects as assigned
THE PREFERRED CANDIDATE WILL HAVE…
- A University Degree in the Social Service field and/or five (5) to seven (7) years previous related experience
- Demonstrated supervisory, budgeting and strategic leadership skills
- Demonstrated knowledge of CCEYA, policies and current issues in the field of child care
- Strong knowledge and experience with play-based curriculum rooted in How Does Learning Happen, High Scope curriculum with AQI
- Experience staffing programs and creating staffing schedules/policies that supports an organization’s staffing and program needs
- Excellent communication skills and collaborative abilities
- Demonstrated abilities to coach, mentor and train staff
- Strong problem solving, conflict resolution and interpersonal skills
- Intermediate to advanced skills with Microsoft Excel and proficient in Microsoft Word and Microsoft products
- Ability to work with a minimum of direction, be self-motivated, flexible and willingness to accept increased responsibility in a changing organization
- Ability to implement and support the organization’s direction and strategic action plan
- Innovative thinker and problem solver with an aptitude to think outside of the box to meet the changing needs and demands of the organization
