
INCLUSION COORDINATOR
PLASP Child Care Services is a charitable organization operating on a not-for-profit basis, providing high quality early learning and child care, for children up to 12 years of age. PLASP operates programs in more than 240 schools providing before and after school care. PLASP also operates 38 full-day Early Learning and Child Care Centres and six EarlyON locations for children from 0 – 6 years.

Reporting to the Inclusion Manager, the Inclusion Coordinator will support with ensuring that families and programs with identified needs have appropriate resources to thrive at PLASP Child Care Services.
THE POSITION INVOLVES…
The successful candidate will provide a full range of duties, including:
- Providing onsite training, mentoring, and coaching to program staff to enhance inclusive practices and support the successful participation of all children.
- Collecting, managing, and analyzing data related to inclusion, such as Individual Support Plans (ISPs)
- Assists in the development of individualized plans for identified children in partnership with staff and families
- Collaborating with families, community partners, and external professionals (e.g., resource consultants, therapists) to strengthen programs at PLASP
- Providing support to the Inclusion Manager as requested, including but not limited to, supporting with intake/Planning for Success processes, Relief Planning and staffing for extended day programs
- Manages Inclusion email box and ensure appropriate and timely correspondence
- Support and meet with Special Needs Support Staff, in collaboration with the Inclusion Manager
- Visits to observe Special Needs Support Staff in program to support with job performance
- Prepares a written report for each visit, including strategies implemented, staff training and subsequent follow-up
- Ensures that PARS entries are accurate and reflect the shifts needed in the programs
- Developing strategies and plans with staff teams to ensure individual needs are met and programs align with inclusion policies and best practices.
THE PREFERRED CANDIDATE WILL HAVE…
- A degree or Diploma in Social Services field and/or Early Childhood Education
- A minimum of 2 year of experience supporting children in a child care setting
- A positive and sensitive attitude towards children and families; PLASP Staff, and Community Partners
- Upholds professionalism and exercises diplomacy and tact
- Upholds confidentiality of children and families as well as fellow educators
- Demonstrated skills in working with groups of children and current best practices for inclusion
- Demonstrated leadership skills and the ability coach and mentor staff
- Demonstrated coaching, consultation, problem-solving and facilitation skills
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- A full understanding of CCEYA and policies and practices of the organization and ability to implement them
- All health requirements to be met in accordance with the Ministry of Education, and PLASP policies
- Holds and valid drivers license with the ability to travel and/or access reliable transportation to various programs.
