Position: Relief-Relief Resource

Total Hours Per Day: 7 hours

Hourly Wage: $29.30  ** plus hourly Provincial Wage Enhancement if applicable**

                      Compensation rate is increased for RECE candidate

 

RELIEF RESOURCE – FULL TIME (7 Hours)  

 

PLASP Child Care Services is a charitable organization operating on a not-for-profit basis, providing high quality early learning and child care, for children up to 12 years of age. PLASP operates in more than 240 schools providing before school, lunch, and after school programs and 30 full-day early learning and child care centres and five EarlyON locations for children from 0 – 6 years.

PLASP programs provide fun, age appropriate activities for children 4 to 12 years of age, both indoors and outdoors.  Programs follow the Ministry of Education pedagogy, How Does Learning Happen? 

 

 

The Relief Resource candidate will be asked to commute to various PLASP Programs for their shift and must be comfortable with this travel commitment.   

 

Responsibilities: 

  • Provides shift coverage in the absence of Program staff to ensure program ratio is in compliance with Ministry of Education 
  • Ability to work 7 hours per day within PLASP programs, providing  coverage in the Before and After School Program, or Child Care Centre as needed. 
  • Following the Ministry of Education licensed requirements as per the Child Care and Early Years Act (CCEYA) 
  • Works with a team to establish and maintain a safe, warm and caring environment in which a high quality child care program can operate. 
  • Plans, implements programs of stimulating activities and developmentally appropriate activities for children, following the Ministry of Education’s How does Learning Happen? Ontario’s pedagogy for the early years and PLASP standards. 
  • Provide support and/ or training to PLASP staff as required 

 

Qualifications: 

  • ECE Diploma /Degree or experience as a PLASP Program Director 
  • Experience working with groups of school aged children in a formal setting 
  • A positive and sensitive attitude towards children and staff 
  • Proven leadership abilities 
  • Excellent organizational abilities 
  • Ability to supervise and train staff and volunteers
  • All health requirements met in accordance with the CCEYA and PLASP Personnel Policies  
  • Holds a valid Standard First Aid Certificate, with level C CPR 
  • A valid Food Handler’s Certificate  
  • Original Vulnerable Sector Criminal reference Check, dated within the last six months 
  • Physically able to participate with children in the gym and outdoors and set up program equipment
  • Excellent communication skills 
  • Knowledge and understanding of the CCEYA and practical experience in the Ministry of Education’s mandated pedagogy “How Does Learning Happen?” 
  • Must hold a current driver’s license, and have daily access to a vehicle.
